There’s been a spate of denials about Scarlett Johansson’s relationship with Sean Penn, ever since rumours first surfaced that they were more than just friends. So the Hollywood stars are going to have to come up with an ingenious explanation about these new photos. As they left a politically-charged event in Washington D.C. Scarlett and Sean stroll casually through the grounds of the president’s home holding hands – the actress wrapped up in his suit jacket.
The kind of behaviour that bears all the hallmarks of a normal, loving relationship, and not a regular platonic friendship. It’s not the first time the couple have been pictured displaying more intimate interaction with one another than a typical pair of friends. In early March they were pictured enjoying a cosy lunch together at a restaurant in Los Angeles. Scarlett had removed her shoes and placed her feet on Penn’s lap, while they ate together at the Versailles restaurany.
Later that month it was also reported that they had gone away on a romantic trip to Mexico, where they were again seen displaying unusually affectionate body language. But the denial has been stringent from the start.
In February a spokesperson for Miss Johansson simply stated: ‘Scarlett and Sean are not dating – they have been friends for years. Nothing more, nothing less. ‘They have been talking over the last few months regarding Haiti Relief and Scarlett’s upcoming trip to Haiti as Oxfam’s Global Ambassador.’ Both actors flexed their political muscle at the annual Washington Correspondents dinner.
They were among guests includinBesg Donald Trump, Cee Lo Green, Will.i.am, Joan Rivers, Ulgy Betty actress America Ferrera and Sarah Palin’s daughter Bristol. Besides the late night union between her hand and Penn’s, it was Scarlett’s hair that also came in for a fair amount of attention at the event. The Lost In Translation beauty stole the show at the dinner tonight by unveiling her new red locks.
And the colour looked stunning on her, especially complemented by the antique teal dress and beige heels she donned for the black tie event. There was surprisingly no sign of Johansson’s outspoken politico beau, Sean Penn and instead the actress was accompanied by her brother Hunter for the night. Penn was recently spotted partying without his girlfriend in New York, and this solo expedition from Scarlett will do little to quell rumours of a rift between the pair.
