A New Yorker learns early on how to properly hail a taxi. And actress Scarlett Johansson, who was born and raised in the Big Apple, proved that showing a little leg certainly doesn’t hurt when you need a quick getaway. The 27-year-old movie star quickly got the cab driver’s attention, then dashed across the busy Manhattan street, and bid farewell to her blonde female companion.
With her blonde hair in a messy bun, Scarlett kept cool in a casual blue floral dress and black strappy wedges as she carried two heavy bags on each arm through the bustling city. The curvy actress can thank her enviable figure and toned legs to her recent physically-demanding role in The Avengers where, she stuck to a ‘mostly vegan diet’ and worked for almost two months with trainer Bobby Strom and her stunt double Heidi Moneymaker.
She and ex-husband Ryan Reynolds recently put their two-bedroom Los Feliz home on the market for $3.65 million, after having lived in it for less than six months. The news comes a month after Ryan and his new girlfriend, Gossip Girl star Blake Lively, purchased a new house in upstate New York for more than $2 million. After dating Sean Penn briefly, Scarlett was spotted all over Manhattan and Hawaii with New York-based advertising creative director Nate Naylor, who isn’t used to dating celebrities.
‘[The media attention] must be very strange for him,’ she told Vogue in April. ‘I mean, it’s got to be an adjustment for him way more than it was for me [when my career started] at 19. But he’s really remarkably good about it.’ Two weeks ago, the Match Point star was seen in 1960 period costume on the set of Hitchcock, a film about the making of Alfred Hitchcock’s scariest film, Psycho, out next year.
Carrying an enormous umbrella, Scarlett was seen wearing a cream pencil skirt, matching heels, and a yellow-and-black sleeveless blouse. Jessica Biel plays Vera Miles, the actress who portrayed Marion Crane’s sister in the film, while British actor James D’Arcy plays Anthony Perkins who played the psychotic Norman Bates.
Dame Helen Mirren plays the director’s wife Alma, while Anthony Hopkins will take on the title role. Scarlett recently told Total Film Magazine how excited she is to play Janet Leigh, the actress whose character is murdered in the infamous shower scene.
‘There was never really an actor I wanted to portray or do a biopic of but I do love Janet Leigh,’ she said.
The Golden Globe-nominated actress continued, ‘But I think women that are curvy can be pigeonholed in that bombshell thing. I never think of my characters that way. What can you do about it? As I get older, I think I’m seeing more multifaceted roles. I’m past the ingenue phase, which I’m very thankful for, but I’m happy it’s over.’
