She wowed on the red carpet during the premiere for her new film Marriage Story. And Scarlett Johansson looks just as sensational in an everyday ensemble, as she left the 76th Venice Film Festival via water taxi. The actress, 34, put on a casual chic display in a black-and-white striped crop top to show a glimpse of her abs.
Scarlett complemented her look with a pair of loose dark trousers, while she kept a low profile in circular shades and carried a black backpack. Her blonde locks were pulled back into a messy bun and she accentuated her natural beauty by wearing light touches of make-up.
Adding a pop of colour to her look, Scarlett stepped out in red caged sandals and she held a denim jacket over one arm. At the premiere Scarlett ensured that all eyes were on her as she wore a fitted scarlet gown covered in delicate sequins from the designer Celine.
The Avengers star showed off her intricate floral back tattoo in the strapless dress, which also boasted a thigh-high split. Scarlett kept her blonde tresses in a slicked-back wet look style as she sported a quirky silver chain earring by Ana Khouri to add an edge to her outfit.
Scarlett’s appearance at the premiere comes after she candidly said the role was ‘fated,’ as it came after her own divorce from husband Roman in 2017. Speaking at a press conference for the film, which Variety reported on, she explained: ‘I was actually going through a divorce.
‘I didnโt know what we were going to talk aboutโฆ I just kind of blew into the room, ordered a glass of white wine and started complaining. And he was just listening and very attentive. And then he kind of cut it short and said, “Funny you should mention it.”‘
The 76th Venice Film Festival sees a highly anticipated lineup compete for the coveted Golden Lion award, with many big Hollywood pictures making their premiere at the annual showcase.
The jury will be led by Argentinian director Lucrecia Martel, and also features Canadian critic Piers Handling, Japanese actor Shinya Tsukamoto and British actress Stacy Martin, who landed her breakout role in 2013 as the younger version of sex addict Joe in the Lars Von Trier erotic drama Nyphomaniac.
Venice also faced backlash last year when not one of its Golden Lion contenders was helmed by a female director. This year marks a slight improvement, with two female-directed films, Babyteeth and The Perfect Candidate.
