Reese Witherspoon Reacts To Wednesday’s Legally Blonde Horror Reference

Reese Witherspoon is reacting to Wednesday’s Legally Blonde horror reference. The 2001 comedy following Elle Woods and her experience at Harvard Law School has continued to gain recognition over the years, becoming highly influential and commonly referenced among popular culture. The film’s exuberance, along with Elle’s distinct personality and fashion sense, represent the complete opposite of Wednesday Addams’ (Jenna Ortega) character, as audiences found out in episode 7, “If You Don’t Woe Me by Now.” Tyler (Hunter Doohan) prepared a date for Wednesday at Crackstone’s crypt and upon asking her how she felt about scary movies, played Legally Blonde.
Wednesday called the film torture and her initial look of shock towards its opening caused fans to share the scene across social media. Now, Reese Witherspoon is reacting to the Netflix series turning Legally Blonde into a horror movie. One of the many moments from Wednesday that has gone viral, the actress used the clip to record a hilarious response, writing in the caption, “Give Elle a chance, Wednesday!”
Wednesday Has Fun With Its Lead’s Personality

Most people associate Wednesday Addams with her unique personality, drawn to dark and mysterious things, and often unbothered by others’ feelings. The Netflix series has fun with those qualities, and Jenna Ortega’s deadpan humor and line delivery make the character even more memorable. From the very first episode, Wednesday reveals that she does not use technology or social media, referring to the latter as a “soul-sucking void.” She shows no remorse for any of her mischief either, and when confronted with the incident that got her expelled from Nancy Reagan High School, she said she would do it again. Wednesday also rarely smiles and almost never blinks in the show, which a lot of viewers found humorous.

Some other moments from Wednesday that highlighted the character’s personality were when she used her knowledge of other languages to hilariously dissuade guests from buying fudge at Pilgrim World, and when she told Thing to leave her in the mortuary cabinet. Despite all of the fun it has with Wednesday’s mannerisms and stone-faced demeanor, she does show emotion more than once during the series. The first time is in a flashback, when she tells Enid (Emma Myers) about her pet scorpion, Nero. She also appeared distraught after finding Thing stabbed and believing him dead.

Will Wednesday Get A Season 2?

Given the recent success of Wednesday, and the way in which it ended, it seems likely that Netflix would renew it for a second season. The fan engagement has been impressive, with many taking to social media like Reese Witherspoon to share their favorite moments or reactions to certain characters and scenes. Show runners Al Gough and Miles Millar previously discussed their interest in exploring more of the world, and the relationship between Wednesday and Morticia.

There are still a lot of questions left after the finale, especially concerning Tyler and Marilyn, and who the stalker is. A possible arc was teased as well, with Millar noting that Wednesday is still learning to understand friendships. Those interested to see where the show goes next can be sure to keep an eye out for any more news surrounding Wednesday’s future.
