A Pennsylvanian couple now has a total of nine children after adopting four siblings and welcoming quadruplets about a year later. Maxine and Jake Young already had a biological son named Henry when they adopted four siblings they had been fostering for years in December 2019. Following the adoption, the couple decided to try for a second child. However, they were in for a major shock when Maxine fell pregnant with quadruplets, quickly growing their family to 11 members.
Jake and Maxine married in May 2016, and according to a GoFundMe page created by Jake’s mother, ArLette Young, they wanted to start a family as soon as possible.
Maxine had always envisioned having a big family made up of both biological and adopted children, according to ArLette.
Jake was totally on board and adored the concept of living in a home where there would be plenty of love, laughing, and perhaps even some mayhem!
But what they got was a little more love and craziness than they anticipated.
First, on July 28, 2017, the couple adopted three siblings after completing foster parent training. The children were 4, 2, and 11 months old at the time, and a newborn baby girl joined them a month later as their fourth sibling.
They were attempting to have a baby join their family the entire time, according to ArLette. They underwent a round of IVF and an IUI, as well as numerous losses and artificial pregnancies, before giving birth to their son Henry in October 2018.
On December 20, 2019, just one year after Henry was born, the couple formally adopted the four siblings they had been fostering.
It was chaos, Maxine told the nearby news station WFMZ while sharing her family’s experience on their YouTube channel, The Family Young Vlogs. “Within a little more than a year, we went from zero to five.”
After finalising the adoption, the couple believed their family of seven was complete. However, Maxine discovered she was pregnant once more, this time without the need for IVF.
I never even considered the possibility of becoming pregnant without IVF or IUI, which we had to do for our kid. I distinctly recall messaging [my husband] and saying, “Oh my G.od.” said Maxine.
They soon discovered that Maxine had suddenly become pregnant with quadruplets, not just one extra child, but four.
At 32 weeks pregnant, Maxine delivered birth on July 31. They were born between 8:00 and 8:02 a.m., weighing between three and four pounds apiece, and were given the names Silas Ledger, Theo Alexander, Beck Killian, and Cecilia Hudson by their parents.
All of them spent some time in the NICU, however two of the infants were recently allowed to go for home.
Jake remarked, “It’s been insane, but I don’t believe it’s struck us just yet.”
Meeting the infants was an unforgettable experience. The pain and worry from the previous six months were instantly forgotten, and in that instant, all we had been through was worthwhile.
We’re very grateful that they’re all doing so well, Maxine continued.
